doll house

Anja and Jay's legs at Bolinas Beach a few weeks ago. A pretty, rocky beach but no marine mammals that day.

I have been looking for a doll house for Anja since we moved here and really didn't think I was going to find what I was looking for. Since we live in an apartment it isn't practical to build one, and in stores I could only find cheap plastic houses and they all cost at least $100! But last weekend I finally found exactly what I wanted - a great deal on a very big and sturdy wooden house without any breakable parts. Anja absolutely loves it:

It has a roof that opens and a side that swings out and a lot of hiding places for dolls. She likes it even more than I thought she might, and even uses the furniture and dolls that we picked up to go with it. It's the new central focus of her play, adjusted from empty boxes and couch cushions.

Lately she wants to do everything that we do. She likes to help sweep the floor, and brush her teeth ("bush teeth bush teeth!") And she also learned to hold the phone up to her ear and talk to it.
